Happy May! Nicer weather is here and things are finally starting to lighten up around this crazy place. We hope that you and yours are doing great and have some fun plans for the summer months ahead!
Direct sunlight is absolutely the worst thing for tattoos! Try your best to keep your tattoos (or at least the ones that you care about!) out of the sun. If you can't (and let's be real, sunshine rocks!), be sure to use the highest SPF suncreen that you can find for your tattooed areas. The sun's rays are pretty amazingly intense and as the radiation breaks down your skin and the particles of ink in your skin layers, the edges and details in tattoos will spread and fade. Being so forever, painful, and expensive, they are well worth preserving!
Hydrate and don't forget your towel!

We hope that you had a great Easter! This weather has been a welcome break. Be sure to enjoy some awesome outdoor reality this year!
I imagine it's a combination of stimilus money/tax returns, more freedom, and a lot of people having some steam to let off or stories to tell, because it sounds like every tattoo studio in the area is pretty slammed. Danielle and I (Leif) will be keeping our books closed for the month of April as she's booking into Septober and I'm into January for any tattooing, at the moment.
We really do appreciate your time and your patience. We're trying our best to get to everyone, so thank you for understanding if it takes a day or two for us to get back to you.
We are actively tattooing in the studio 7 days a week, but with these restrictions and a limited staff, we've been keeping the door shut and letting the phone go to the machine. As these restrictions lift, we plan on getting another artist and some counter help and look forward to being more available for all, once again.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Best health to you and your family!

Almost a year since we entered into lockdown and 15 days to slow the spread... Yikes. We hope that you and your family are doing OK and staying strong amidst the insanity of the last year.
We appreciate you, your time, and your patience!
Best regards to you all!

Here we go again! We wish you and your families the very best as this year grinds on.
Governor Inslee has declared another round of lockdowns for Washington state. As of now, tattoo studios are not included. Danielle and I will be continuing to see our clients by appointment only.
We wish we could be open and more available to those of you who would like to just stop by. We really do appreciate your patience as we try to get to everyone. If somehow we've missed your message or call, please feel free to reach back out and remind us (email is best). We're a smaller and more private studio and won't have any counter staff or help until these restrictions subside. Sometimes it takes me a day or two to respond to everyone, so thanks for understanding!
Thanks to all of you and good health as well!

We hope that today finds you well!
Danielle and I have been busier than ever. We appreciate all of you and your continued support over the years, and are more than happy to continue to dole out ink therapy for you as best we can!
Unfortunately, with the current COVID restrictions and our limited staff, we are keeping the door closed while we're working and are currently open by appointment only. We apologize for this inconvenience and would prefer to be more open and available, but appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this.
Thanks for looking and please feel free to let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Best health and fortune to you!

It's been a while since we've updated our little COVID blog here! We are still alive and kicking and hope the same for you and yours throughout these wild daily news cycles.
Patience has moved on to other things. We are sorry to lose her and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.
We are still working under state regulations related to COVID-19 and are limited to 1 person in the studio at a time per artist with no waiting area. We're still grinding away everyday, but not typically answering the door or phone as we're normally actively tattooing while we're in. We won't be hiring or looking for any additional staff until things start to lighten up and look forward to opening our doors to the general public again, but honestly have been enjoying the more private atmosphere recently. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we may sometimes take a little while to respond to some of your emails or messages, but we are checking them all daily and getting back to each and every one as soon as we're able. Don't hesitate to reach out if we missed you or haven't gotten back to you in a timely manner.
We wish you all the very best health. Please feel to reach out to either of us with any questions or concerns.

We hope that you were able to have an epic Independence Day celebration with your loved ones! We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are by appointment only and have no walk-in availability.
Please contact either Leif or Danielle directly via their email (best) to inquire about availability or scheduling.
Thank you everyone for being patient and understanding as we work through this.

We here at Lunatic hope that today finds you well!
What strange and tense days. I like crazy alright, but have seen enough violence. Looking forward to calmer times and trying to keep my kids surrounded by solid and positive memories throughout it all.
We are currently closed until Clark County (WA) hits 'Phase-2' of the reopening plan set forth by the state. Unfortunately, that is still up in the air. It sounds like we'll hear more this upcoming week.
Once we do hit this phase we are going to be required to meet new higher standards (*no problem, we're all ready!!!*) and will be shifting to an appointment only model. Please contact your artist via our main page - www.lunatictattoo.com ( or contact info also below) to inquire about consulting or scheduling.
I've been having people send me (or their artist of choice) a detailed description of their tattoo ideas including size, placement, any pertinent details, reference pics of stuff that you do and don't like (2-3 pics per idea are great, 12+ are too many), as well as pics of the area that you'd like to have tattooed. These pics are best taken by someone else from a few feet away while you stand normally and hold up a ruler or tape measure for scale.
Each artist controls their own monies and calendars and once you've briefly discussed your ideas, you can then easily move forward from there with them.
I hope that you and your family are well during all of this and please let me (us) know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you and best regards to you all!

We hope that today finds you well!
This has dragged on for a bit, eh? We don't want to downplay the seriousness of this virus, but feel that based on the numbers, this level of lockdown is excessive at this point. However, we'll play the game a little longer... After two months, we can do two more weeks. Currently, the latest goal post has been moved to June 1st for those of us considered worthy of Phase-2. To reopen in Phase-2, businesses in Washington must adhere to some strict new guidelines in order to conduct business and we are ready.
At Lunatic™, we maintain an extremely clean environment and your health and safety are our highest priorities. We have made some updates to give each station a little more space, as well as placed physical barriers between them. We utilize a multi-point air filtration system that incorporates UV light, cycling and purifying the air. We wash our hands frequently and are constantly changing our gloves to prevent any sort of cross-contamination. Every artist is thoroughly trained and certified in the latest BBP (Blood Bourne Pathogen) standards. We will always wear masks and aprons that will be changed between each and every client. Our armrests and other surfaces are covered with disposable multilayered, absorbent/non-permeable barriers. We implement a detailed daily cleaning schedule that covers the entire studio thoroughly, as well as completely disinfect our whole work area from top to bottom between each tattoo, using the highest level medical disinfectants that meet the latest OSHA standards. We are always looking to better and welcome any feedback or helpful comments.
We will be required to keep the doors closed during business hours and will not be allowed to have anyone in the waiting area. Once you've arrived for your appointment, you will need to call us to let us know that you've arrived and don a mask before entering. We will only be allowed one client per artist. If you or anyone in your home has been exhibiting any signs of sickness, we are required to reschedule your appointment. At the end of the day, we want to make sure that you are comfortable and know that we are well trained and taking the time and making the effort to ensure your safety during the tattoo process with us. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns and we look forward to seeing you in Phase-2!
Thank you for being patient while we sort all of this out and get ready for the "new normal".

At this point, we're getting a little tired of this lockdown and the vague, constantly moving political goal posts. The stated goal of the lockdown was to prevent the hospitals from being overwhelmed and they haven't. The emergency Army medical field hospital in Seattle was broken down without even seeing a single patient. We've long since been EXporting ventilators to other states and we have absolutely flattened the curve. No one's forcing anyone *out* of quarantine, but we don't feel the numbers justify a continued shutdown of such a huge portion of the population. We can move forward making informed decisions about this new threat. We here at Lunatic operate in an extremely clean environment and will implement even stricter standards while we wait for the green light so that we're ready to hit the ground running when it finally comes time.
Unfortunately and much to our dismay, we are *closed until further notice*. We will be back once this nonsense lifts officially. We are actively trying to scramble to keep up with this latest extension. Thank you for your patience as we try and sort this all out. Please check back here for updates and/or feel free to reach out to your artist (links and contact info on our main page) to discuss an appointment you already have scheduled, or to start bouncing those new ideas around for your next piece.
I imagine a future world where we will transition into a hurricane/tornado warning system like response. Where we check the weather channel for the latest Virus Threat Level 1, 2, 3, etc... All under the watchful eye of the latest and greatest 'virus surveillance' systems.
Oh, yeah! Don't forget to vote for us in the Best of Clark County this year (please)! (https://www.columbian.com/contests/best-of-clark-county-2020/#/gallery?group=338648)

We would like to thank you all for you continued support and business over the many years. We appreciate you and hope that you're all holding up well during this crazy show. We look forward to seeing you again on the other side of this. Be well!

We will see you all, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed on the other side of this. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we adapt to the status quo. You are loved and appreciated! -L

That didn't take long at all! So much for that. I spent today building a chicken coop and come to find an extension on this lockdown until May 4th in Washington State.
Above all else, we hope that you're safe and well with your family. Our best wishes and love are with you and yours during this difficult time.
We've been adapting by the day in this situation and will be reaching out to all of our clients scheduled for this new window of closure. Thank you for your patience as we try to get caught up with this latest development.
Keeping our heads high and optimism fueled, let's hope this mandate is lifted early as things calm. Best wishes of health and fortune to you all. -L

This April Fool's is no joke! Lolol... Sorry, I'm a mad fool.
As of this post, the latest info on www.governor.wa.gov is saying that all 'non-essential' businesses are to be closed until April 6th. That may mean we can't open until the 7th and honestly, they may change it to May 1st or later at any time.
We will update you as this changing situation develops.
Some people are saying not to worry, while others are saying it's extremely worrisome. Either way, we'd rather take care at this time in an effort to protect the susceptible. Be safe and healthy and we hope that this difficult time isn't affecting you or your family too severely.
We love and appreciate you all!
*EDIT* After reading the order more closely, it is currently until midnight on the 6th of April.

Quarantine apocalypse journal, day 37 -
Stoked to get some quality fam time in! Made breakfast, played the 'your name here/ glamour shot-search result' game, and was pleased as a placebo to get to hang with these three. Started a new painting. Gonna call it COVID-22. Have delayed plans to eat cat, as there's still plenty of food. -L

Good health to you!
We wish you and your family the best during these crazy times. As of yesterday, there is a statewide order in Washington to 'shelter in place' until April 6th. We are unhappy to be closed, but hope that this is helpful in preventing unnecessary deaths in our communities. Although we've considered keeping some appointments at first, there's nothing worth losing our licensing or ability to continue doing our trade for some immediate relief.
We are checking our messages and the studio regularly. We will get back to you as we are able. Stay healthy and safe out there!
March 20TH, 2020
We hope that you are holding up well and that this situation isn't affecting your life in any serious way. This is a trying time for many and I'm happy to see and hear stories of people helping each other out in any way they can. Even if it's something as simple as a smile, every little effort to be a light in this darkness will speed the healing for us all. - L
March 16th, 2020
To all of our family, friends, and clients,
We love and appreciate you! We hope that you aren't personally affected by the current outbreak of the COVID-19 (coronavirus).
Dealing with the unknown or many unknown variables in a serious situation can be scary. There's currently a lot of panic and alarm going around. The need for calm and cool, level heads, is more important than ever. We'll get through this.
As most of you may already be aware, this virus can seriously and lethally affect those with a predisposition for health issues, particularly the elderly. It is beyond important that if you are feeling sick or ill in any way that you stay at home. If someone in your home has tested positive for COVID-19, you all should remain home and contact your healthcare provider. Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly, while avoiding touching anything you don't have to, especially your own face.
Governor Inslee of Washington state has declared that 'non-essential' services are to shut down until March 31st, in an effort to curb the spread of this new viral strain. Tattoo studios are currently included in this list of businesses. We have received no official statement, declaration, or demand of such, prior to this article. Although we will be tending the studio and our current clients, we will most likely not be taking new clients or walk-ins until that date.
If you have an already scheduled upcoming appointment and haven't already heard from your artist, we will be contacting you regarding that shortly. If you are feeling sick, or someone in your household is exhibiting signs of illness, then please stay home. We employ strict and strong infection control practices at our studio and are not ever going to be any sort of hotspot or nexus for any sort of pathogen.
We will be sure to update you as things evolve.
We hope that this time passes relatively quickly and pain-free for all of us. If anything, hopefully we come out of this with some quality family time and reflection on some important things in life. Like tattoos. And kayaking. And fishing. And summer.
But seriously though, you guys rock. Thanks for being there for us and we will see you soon!
-Leif & the Lunatic crew
